Photography Club of Beaufort Logo

Welcome to the Photography Club of Beaufort

Join us at our May 14th meeting. Our featured speaker is Christine Hall who is a portrait and wedding photographer.

She will be doing a demonstration portrait shoot with a child outdoors, before the beginning of our meeting. Due to light and the issue of moving people around, Ms. Hall is going to begin the demo at 6:45 PM in the area at the corner of Greenlawn Drive and Burnside Drive, right near Heckler's.

This is basically across the parking lot (East) from ArtWorks. If you were to face Bi-Lo it is one short block of buildings to your right. There is a pretty area with a pond and oak trees. http://g.co/maps/2ynx6 is the link to a map showing the intersection.

After Christine's demo shoot, at approximately 7:15 PM,we will move to Artworks where we will have or meeting as usual , with the business and announcements and Christine's presentation.

Christine is a fantastic Savannah, GA based photographer, and this will be a great program. To see more about her and see some of her work, check out her website and blog: http://www.christinehallphotography.com

QUICK TAKES:

2012 Community Service Project:

Community Project - Giving Pets a Better Chance"Giving Pets a Better Chance"  - Photographing at the Beaufort County Animal Shelter is underway.

Members of the photo club are photographing at the Animal Shelter once or twice a month in hopes that these photos, used on the shelter's website, will entice people to come and adopt these deserving animals.  With each session they have to overcome the challenges of photographing less than cooperative subjects in less than ideal settings, yet the results have been very positive.

Next Photography Club Field Trip:

St. Augustine, Florida,  on  May 1,2 , and3.

We need at least four more members to make this trip work.
St. Augustine is one of the oldest cities in the U.S., dating back to the Spanish colonial days. The historical sites abound there and are a photog’s paradise.   Our primary attraction will be the Alligator Farm which has an amazing rookery of egrets,  roseate spoonbills,  ibis, herons as well as copious .  These birds are truly “in the wild”, but are used to being around people an allow us to approach within 10-20 feet of their nests for amazing close-ups shots.  We will arrive on Monday, May 1, and depart on the afternoon of May 3.  Accommodations are at the Country Inn & Suites,  231 San Marco Ave,  (904)-827-1766. Call for your reservation and tell them you are with the Photography Club of Beaufort. They are extending group rates of $69/night provided we have AT LEAST 10 rooms booked for this trip.  So please book your reservations now and sign up , lamarnix@gmail.com.   See details on the Alligator Farm at http://www.alligatorfarm.com/ .  Drop Lama an email at lamarnix@gmail.com to sign up.
